4th Session of the 2019 Division 1 NCAA Wrestling Championships

Anthony Cassar (285 lbs) wrestles Gable Steveson, of the University of Minnesota, at the semifinals of the 2019 Division 1 NCAA Wrestling Championships, at the PPG Paints Arena on Friday, March 22.

A week after it was reported by NJ.com that Anthony Cassar received an additional two years of eligibility, the reigning NCAA heavyweight champion announced via Instagram that he's returning for one more year.

"After much thought and prayer, I've decided that I will be returning for another year of college wrestling as I prepare for the 2020 Olympic Trials," Cassar wrote on his Instagram.

Cassar's return is a big one for a Penn State program that graduated stars Jason Nolf and Bo Nickal following the conclusion of this past season and next season will likely mark Cassar's second full season as starter at heavyweight.

The Rocky Hill, New Jersey, native won the heavyweight NCAA title this past season in his first full season as a starter and will likely be a favorite again this season.
