Penn State Men's Hockey Minnesota

Evan Barratt (17) shoots and scored Penn State's fourth goal during the Penn State game against Minnesota at Pegula Ice Arena on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. Penn State defeated Minnesota 5-1 in the first game of the weekend series.

Friday night against No. 8 Minnesota, Penn State freshman sensation Evan Barratt captivated the attention of Nittany Lions’ fans with one shift.

It’s now caught onto the rest of the nation.

Barratt — a third round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017 — most notably called Gophers’ defenseman Ryan Lindgren a crybaby in the penalty box.

Five seconds after the two skated out of the box, Barratt laid out Lindgren, who was traded from the Boston Bruins to the New York Rangers Sunday.

Barratt capped off the astounding shift by going bar-down from the left point. Penn State ended up winning 5-1, en route to another crucial 5-2 victory Saturday to set up a rematch between the teams in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
