Dauphin County coroner rules Timothy Piazza's death as 'accidental'

Graham Hetrick, Dauphin County coroner, released his findings regarding the recent death of Penn State sophomore Timothy Piazza Tuesday afternoon.

Hetrick reported Piazza sustained multiple traumatic injuries from the fall and ruled the death as "accidental."

Piazza, 19, from Lebanon, New Jersey attended a party at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house on Feb. 2 where he received his injuries from a fall down a flight of stairs at 11 p.m., according to police. Beta Theta Pi members, on Feb. 3 called for an ambulance at 10:49 a.m. the following morning.

Piazza was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, then flown to Hershey Medical Center for treatment. Hetrick pronounced Piazza dead on Feb. 4 the next morning.
