HBO's "Paterno" may have received an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding TV Movie Category, but the public responded with both negative and positive reactions to the movie depicting former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

The film, directed by Barry Levinson, portrays the lives of Paterno and Patriot-News reporter Sara Ganim.

After the Emmy nomination on Thursday night, people took to Twitter to share their opinions.

When the movie first hit the screen in April, there was the question if Al Pacino would receive a nomination for his role as the former Penn State football coach.

He did not receive the nomination for his role.

Beyond the people reacting on social media, around 300 Penn State football letterman also released a letter criticizing the film long before the Emmy nomination.
