After originally committing to Rutgers, Blake Zalar has officially decommitted from Rutgers and will be joining Penn State as a preferred walk-on.
The Coal Township, Pennsylvania native will be remaining in his home state as a Nittany Lion for his collegiate career.
A product of Shamokin Area High School, Zalar played offensive tackle, guard and center in high school. He also played defensive tackle in his junior and senior seasons, averaging nearly four tackles per game and finishing with 40 total tackles in the 2018-19 campaign.
At 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, Zalar received offers from Miami, Temple and Brown before deciding to commit to Rutgers in February.
Nearly three months later, the first-team all-state lineman will join Penn State this summer, with the intention to graduate in 2023.
