CBS Sports has announced its top coach rankings in the Big Ten and after Urban Meyer’s retirement, the news agency has selected a new coach at the No. 1 spot.

James Franklin was ranked the top-coach in the Big Ten by CBS Sports this season.

According to the article, a big part of the decision was that Franklin has coached Penn State to a Big Ten Championship coming off of the sanction that the Penn State program faced from Jerry Sandusky.

Franklin has also coached the Nittany Lions to a 31-9 record in the past three seasons.

On the national list of rankings, Franklin found himself at No. 11, one spot lower than last season.

Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio was ranked second and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh was ranked third. Meyer’s replacement at Ohio State, Ryan Day, was ranked tenth on the list.
