Stay warm, cool down -- look hot

Finally! Winter vacation is upon us. Just a few more classes, a few more exams, and we get to experience three glorious weeks of nothingness. For the last blog of the semester, I'm going to keep with the theme of our upcoming break and feature some great items for whatever it may be that you do over the holiday. For those of you going home to spend time with family and friends in the cold and snowy weather, I'll recommend the best winter gear around to keep you cute, comfortable and warm while you hit the slopes or even get out the old sled. For you lucky ones taking holiday vacations to warmer and prettier climates (everyone hates you, by the way), you'll find some of the best items from the earliest round of spring clothes.

Wool-trim Shearling Earmuffs, $39.50 at J.Crew

I think there is a serious lack of earmuffs these days, and these are absolutely adorable. Plus, the bright yellow color adds a nice punch of color to the winter-white weather.

Rugby Striped Gloves, $16.50 at the Gap

These warm and soft knit gloves come in blue and red, and the extra length will keep your arms warm, too!

Cable Knit Scarf, $29.50 at American Eagle

This chunky wool scarf with fringe comes in eight different colors -- perfect for any winter activity!

Climbing Blooms Cutaway Top, $78 by Free People

The springlike color and amazing back is the perfect top to kick off your warm weather winter break.

Rapallo Ring-print Halter Suit, $85 at J.Crew

By far one of the cutest one-pieces I've seen in a while, and I love the nautical vibe of the navy and white combo.

Striped Hoodie Dress, $44.50 at the Gap

The perfect beach cover up, and looks great with jeans and flip flops too!

Buying the Right Bling Ain't No Thing

I can't explain how many bad boyfriend gifts I've recieved over the years. With the exception of Tiffany sterling silver ball studs, I have a small box with poor jewelry selections; a thick chain necklace, a heart pendant from Kohl's that broke after one wear and obviously fake pearls. Thankfully, I'm single for the holiday season and actually excited because I don't have to put on a fake smile, say "Oh, I love it!" and wear it for at least a month or so to keep things jolly in the decked halls. Guys, I know it's not easy, so I've done a little online shopping and found a shove in the right direction.

Coach Medallion Earrings, $98 at Coach

For the name-brand loving chick, these earrings are add a splash of colors to any ensemble but are equally charming with the button-shaped brass medallions.

ginette_ny Gold Charm Pimento Earrings, $126 on shopbop.com

Does she get you all wild inside? These gold earrings are the perfect way to spice up any relationship.

CC Skye Love Pendant, $125 at Bloomingdales

Instead of an overdone heart, why not saying how you feel with the actual word...in gold?

Elsa Peretti Eternal Circle Earrings, $165 at Tiffany and Co.

These circle-of-trust earrings say "I like you"...aka "I'm not hooking up with anyone else but you" better.

Vita Large Embossed Bangles in Yellow, Red or Green, $95 each at Neiman Marcus

These Italian leather bangles with 24-K gold is for the consistently chic girl who wants something different out of an ordinary bracelet.

Deal of the Week

It's getting REALLY cold, and if you don't already have a coat, American Eagle just put one up on sale, and it's in a really bright and fun shade of royal blue.

American Eagle Campus Anorak, was $89.50 and now $49.95
