Save vs. Splurge

This winter season, avid texters and cell phone fanatics won't need to worry about losing fingers with the glacial winds that too often plague State College.

Designers and stores have created innovative gloves and mittens that will keep your fingers warm and nimble, while still looking like a rock star. Save or splurge on one of these trends.

Arm Warmers

This glove adds an extra layer to both your hands and arms to give the wearer maximal warmth.

Splurge: These Fingerless Cashmere gloves ($69 at bebe.com) are super soft and flawlessly made. The gloves hit near the elbow and come in black.

Save: The Toggle Armwarmers ($24 at urbanoutfitters.com) are made with a cable knit and can convert into mittens.

Leather Gloves

There is nothing classier than a pair of leather gloves. Leather keeps fingers snug while looking clean and sleek.

Fingerless

This glove is an excellent choice for hands that overheat easily. Keep your hands temperate in a pair of fingerless gloves.

Save: Sylvie Fingerless gloves ($4.80 at forever21.com) are crochet-knitted and are accented with a vibrant neon color.

Convertible Mittens

The choice is yours with these convertible mittens. Flip the mitten up to allow for more mobility, or keep the mitten down to keep your fingers toasty warm.
