Save vs. Splurge

With all of the bronzing, tinting and illuminating face products around, there is no reason you should let your usually bright complexion turn as dreary as the weather outside.

Here are a few products you can either save or splurge on to combat that dull or pasty skin that usually accompanies the snowy season.

Blush

Splurge: The NARS Blush in Orgasm ($25 at narscosmetics.com) is a best-selling blush that will provide a healthy dosage of glow to your skin, even as the temperatures drop. It is also formulated to avoid heaviness and build up that could make winter skin even more dull and dry.

Save: Sorme Wet/Dry Long Lasting Blush ($7.95 at folica.com) offers versatility because it is able to provide a light, powdery finish if used dry or a creamier finish if used wet. This offers a great component when you plan on using a product in different seasons.

Bronzer

Splurge: Bobbi Brown 'Copper Diamond' Shimmer Brick Compact ($40 at bobbibrowncosmetics.com) includes five individual bronzing shades that can be worn separately or together to provide a coppery glow that complements most skin tones.

Save: M.A.C. Cosmetics Bronzing Powder ($21 at maccosmetics.com) will give the ideal bronze finish to skin that hasn't seen the sun in months. Its reasonable pricing could also make this product an everyday staple with no concern of overusing before spring arrives.

Illuminator

Splurge: By using Estée Lauder Shimmering Jewel Powder ($32 at esteelauder.com), you will be able to sweep radiance right onto your skin and highlight natural assets like defined cheek bones or arched eyebrows.

Save: Laura Mercier Mineral Cheek Powder ($22 at sephora.com) contains a gemstone complex that reflects light to illuminate the skin wherever it is applied. Its mineral component will also improve the look of your skin, leaving it healthier with every use.
