Former Early November frontman to perform at SoZo

Ace Enders, former frontman of Early November, will kick off Homecoming weekend Friday night at SoZo.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and Ace Enders will hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature Enders alongside his new band, named Ace Enders and a Million Different People.

Advance tickets for the show are priced at $10 and can be purchased at City Light Records, 316 E. College Ave., and through www.nittanybooking.indietickets.com. Tickets will be $12 at the door the day of the show.

Friday's performance will mark Enders' first appearance in State College with a full band. Will Snyder, director of SoZo, has worked with Enders previously.

"Ace is a normal guy making great music," Snyder said. "This show is a great opportunity to see these up-and-coming bands in an intimate way."

He added Enders said he enjoyed the venue's intimacy.

"People are a foot away from the stage, with the venue having only a 200-person capacity," Snyder said.

Other bands on the agenda for Friday night's show include Good Old War, Forgive Durden and State College's own Matthew and the Judes, who will open the show.

"It will be interesting to see the biggest name of the show," Garrett Bogden of Nittany Booking said, referring to what the crowd will find appealing.

This will be Good Old War's third and final stop on Enders' tour. The band consists of former members of Days Away and Unlikely Cowboy. Their band name comes from the members' last names: Goodwin, Arnold and Schwartz.

Good Old War released its first album, Only Way to be Alone, on iTunes in early August and it hit stores on Sept. 12. Anthony Green of Circa Survive and Dave Davison of Maps & Atlases have guest performances on the album.

"They gain more and more momentum every week," said Sheila Kenny, publicist for Good Old War.

Kenny added the band was recently on Last Call with Carson Daly, and its first single, "Coney Island," can be viewed on Fuse.tv

The single has also been voted onto mtvU by a landslide win by fans who choose between five videos, Kenny said.

Good Old War hails from Philadelphia and Enders is a New Jersey native. Bogden said this concert could be reminiscent of home for many students.

As for the SoZo show, Kenny said Good Old War loves to play live and appreciates its audience.

"We never thought we could book a show like this. I'm more excited than anything else because of the caliber of the bands and their diversity," Bogden said.
