Save vs. Splurge

Rainy days occur frequently in the Happy Valley.

Instead of skipping class next time a big storm hits, reach for a trusty pair of rain boots that will keep your feet comfortable, warm, and precipitation free. Choose to save or splurge on one of these popular styles of rubber wellies.

Traditional

This rain boot style is classic enough to wear with any outfit. Grab these if you want your wellies to be simple and not the focal point of your ensemble

Splurge: The KORS Michael Kors "Splash" Rain Boots in black ($120.00 at bloomingdales.com) are as stylish as any leather boot, and twice as functional for the upcoming seasons of rain and snow. The wedged heel adds some height and in no way limits traction.

Save: The Women's Zeta Tall Rain Boots in black ($24.99 at target.com) serve their purpose just as well. These are sleek and thrifty enough for those who don't want to break the bank on rubber boots.

Plaid

This preppy print compliments wellies so that they can be worn for function and fashion.

Splurge: The Burberry Check Rain boots ($195.00 at buberryusaonline.com) are a rainy day staple in State College and in cities around the country. Sport these around campus to show off your designer style.

Save: The Nomad Puddles in tan ($46.50 at shoebuy.com) are the same style and colors as the traditional Burberry wellies and essentially an afordable knock-off.

Graphic

Stand out from the crowd in a pair of bright, graphic wellies and shoo those rainy day blues away.

Splurge: The MARC by Marc Jacobs Women's "Hearts" Rain boots ($225.00 at bloomingdales.com) are as fun and flirty as your favorite pair of pumps. The design, colors, and heeled sole all make these wellies the sweetest of their kind.

Save:The Kamik Hearts Rain boots in red ($54.95 at dsw.com) provide the same endearing look as the designer boots in an even funkier pattern.
