Why We Think It Works: Dongyang's simple yet fresh ensemble gives off a bit of a nautical vibe, hinting at the very last glimpse of the waning summer season.

Shang succeeds in mixing pieces with both Asian and American influences by pairing her light, bib-collar dress from a small boutique in China with stripped Hollister Co. flip flops, a Tiffany & Co. necklace and a JanSport backpack. Dongyang said she dresses for class in an Asian style she said is more "cute." However, she also likes to follow the American trends.

"I like to dress like an all-American girl while I am in this country," Shang said.
