Save: jane Fan Club Water Resistant Curling Mascara ($3.99, drugstores) curls and thickens lashes. It's clump free and inexpensive. This mascara is also not tested on animals.

Thickening mascara will make lashes bigger and bolder. Thickening mascara helps to make both lashes and eyes stand out.

Splurge: BADgal Lash Mascara ($9 to $19, Sephora) is not as pricey as some others, but is still one of the best. A celebrity favorite, this mascara can easily thicken lashes to create a full look.

Save: Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara: Thickening ($6.99, drugstores) gives extra-thick lashes with only one coat. There is no need to re-apply this mascara, which can plump lashes without clumps and smudges.

Waterproof:

Waterproof mascara is best for those who want to wear mascara for the entire day or are going to an event. For those who wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes, this mascara is best because it won't make eyes water or smudge if something gets caught in the eye.

Splurge: Hynose Waterproof-Custom Volume Mascara ($24, Sephora) can last up to 16 hours. It contains the "Softshield" formula that not only makes the mascara waterproof, but increases the volume of lashes as well. It also features their "Powerfull" brush to plump up all lashes.

Save: Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara ($4.79 or two for $6, Walgreens) is still America's No. 1 Mascara, winning multiple awards from magazines, most recently InStyle Magazine. It has a smooth glide and does not smudge as easily as other mascara.
