Save vs. Splurge

The countdown for spring break has begun.

It's time to slough the brutal winter from your body and say hello to the fresh, dewy skin underneath that is ready for a nice even coat of sunshine.

However, you don't have to dig in a beach for the extra money to spend on polishing yourself in a salon or spa. You can give yourself an exfoliating spa treatment at home for a lot less.

Step 1: Face

Splurge: Forget ordinary facial soap. There are so many cool new tools to get your facial cleansing done with nowadays. The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush ($195, sephora.com) was created by the makers of Sonicare toothbrushes and gives your skin a deep, out-of-this-world cleaning.

Save: It's a new wave of face cleaning. The Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser ($12.59, drugstore.com) uses gentle vibrations to clean your face. Its compact design is cool but still packs a powerful punch in cleansing your pores.

Step 2: Body

Splurge: Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash ($25, sephora.com) is designed to not only resurface the skin but replenish it as well, while still being gentle enough for daily use.

Save: Olay Body Daily Purifying Body Wash and Scrub ($7.78, drugstore.com) has sea salt and microbeads to slough off rough and dead skin while leaving behind luminous, silky skin it its place.

Step 3: Hands

Splurge: Great hands are only minutes away. Bliss Glamour Gloves ($48, sephora.com) has a special polymer gel lining that feeds dry skin and keeps hands looking their absolute best and feeling incredibly soft.

Save: Bath and Body Works' Glove Me Tender ($13, bathandbodyworks.com) takes the glove treatment to the invisible level.

It gives the same intense moisturizing and age-defying benefits of other spa glove treatments, but with no glove.

Step 4: Feet

Splurge: Bliss Softening Sock Salve ($28, sephora.com) and Softening Socks ($48, sephora.com) are a one-two combination against rough feet. These two are a mini pedicure in a sock.

Save: Olay Thermal Pedicure Foot Treatment ($9.99, CVS.com) is magic in a bottle. It is a self-heating system with luxurious ingredients. Bora Bora white sand, pumice, and micro-crystals polish away rough winter feet while shea butter and moisturizers smooth and soften the skin.
