On Wednesday afternoons at Penn State men's swimming practice, while most swimmers are in the pool, the distance swimmers are contorting, bending and stretching their bodies and limbs every which way.
Sweat the small stuff.
Penn State men's swimming coach John Hargis said in order for the Nittany Lions to get better, they must work on the little things in swim meets, like coming into and getting out of the walls in order to improve as a team.

Pat Schirk had just finished his exhibition in the 200-yard backstroke and leaned forward to check the scoreboard. He raised his hand in victory before climbing out of the pool, having just set a McCoy Natatorium record in his final meet at home.
For one last time, the eleven seniors on the Penn State men's swimming team got to swim in front of a home crowd. And while the team defeated its foe St. Bonaventure, the main focus of the day was the seniors.

After months of arduous practice schedules and demanding road meets, the men's swimming and diving team finally has an opportunity to use its comfort level at the McCoy Natatorium to its advantage.
Of the nine meets scheduled on the Penn State men's swimming and diving team's schedule, only one is highlighted as a home date. When the swimmers take the pool this afternoon, it will be the first time all season they will compete in front of a friendly crowd.
