Slides of strength rejuvenate dancers
The slip and slide mat has been laid out, and committee members began to lather it with baby powder in preparation for slides of strength early Sunday morning.
Dancers began to line up behind the mat, and when they land on it, committee members will begin massaging dancer’s legs, feet, ankles and hamstrings.
“The benefit of massaging is to rejuvenate the nutrients back into the muscles,” Dylan Maughmer (Sports Masseuse) said.
Some dancers like Anuj Updahyay (senior – chemical engineering) believe they’ll finally have the chance to have a few moments to stay off their feet.
“One of the benefits to strength sliding is being able to lie down and be off your feet, and it gets blood pumping back into your feet,” Updahyay (senior – major Chemical Engineering) said.
Other dancers like John Workinger (senior – electrical engineering) believe it’s a clear glimpse to see a strong support to help dancers.
“It’s great to see how much support there is and it’s uplifting with all the cheering and support that’s given,” Workinger said.
