Dancers balance sweets with healthier choices
While some dancers jump at the chance to get a Philly Pretzel or an Insomnia Cookie, they are sure to balance these sweet treats with healthy choices.
"I always eat pretzels when they're there," dancer Steve Huber said.
But he also gets fruit, such as a banana "filled with potassium," to balance it out, he said.
"Sweets are nice to eat," Huber (senior-finance) said. His favorite one so far has been Rita's Italian ice, because there's a nice "icy mix of water and a sweet taste."
For Alex Schoner's mid-morning meal, he got one of everything.
"A pretzel, an apple, a banana, a cookie, ice cream," he said. He, like Huber, said he tried to balance it out. His favorite sweet so far was the cinnamon bun.
Alexandra Rayser said she wasn't given much of a choice what to eat, adding that's she's had the same thing for the past three meals.
She said that when she does get something sweet to eat, it's maybe a cookie once every two meals.
Julie Wojciechowcz has been proud of her resistance to the candy she was sent in her dancer mail. She said she hasn't had too much sugary stuff and that she and her dance partner pretty much only shared a Kit-Kat bar. But there's one sweet she won't pass up.
"Oh, I eat the cookies for sure," she said.
