Color Wars ends with Green victory

Nicole Symeonides said Color Wars started off as a way for the Morale committee to come together, but it also means a bit of relief for the dancers.

Symeonides was unknowingly on her feet for almost 36 hours before the Color Wars Grand Finale.

Color Wars involves both the dancers and the Morale committee, which are split up into three different colors, or teams. The teams are Blue, Green and Red.

The winning team gets a trophy and unlimited bragging rights.

“The trophy is more important than the Super Bowl, the Louisiana Purchase, the Space Race, Beyonce’s new baby, the Chick-Fil-A bowl, Batman, Superman and the Hulk combined,” a Morale captain announced to the crowd at 5:25 a.m. Sunday.

The finale was dubbed the “DecathaTHON” and included events like shotput and foursquare. The Green team was victorious. Blue and Red, came in second and third, respectively.

Although the Green team came out on top, Symeonides said the Color Wars was more than just a competition.

“It’s fun to do activities; it keeps me off the time,” she said. “I don’t have to think about [standing]. It’s something to keep me busy.”
