Supporters take in THON action from Bryce Jordan Center's upper deck

THON supporters in the stands are keeping the enthusiasm high as the 46-hour dance marathon goes into its first night, including those who are up in the nosebleed sections of the Bryce Jordan Center.

Elisha Dupree and Sierra Johnson were about as far from the floor as you can get, but they were happy to join in the fun as they sang and danced along to the acts in the THON Talent Show.

The two friends first met while supporting their organization, DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship, at last year’s Interfratenity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.

“It’s our one year friend-iversary,” Dupree (sophomore-labor studies and employment management) said with a laugh.

Dupree and Johnson (sophomore-psychology) both said that they’ve really enjoyed the music so far.

One act that stood out to Johnson was Irish dance group, Rince na Leon.

“They were so unique and creative,” she said. “I had never seen anything like that before. I loved it.”

“All of the acts have done a really good job of keeping everyone excited and awake,” Dupree said. “Let’s hope they continue that throughout the weekend.”

While the girls aren’t supporting specific dancers, Dupree said that they “are here for everyone.”

“These dancers are doing something incredible down there,” she said. “Standing here and supporting them all night is the least we can do.”
