Supporters give up sleep to spend time in the stands at THON
For some students in the stands at THON tonight, sleep has already become a thing of the past for the rest of the weekend.
Nicki Yankoski said she has been up since 8 this morning and she doesn’t plan on sleeping or even sitting down until the dancers do the same.
“It’s my last THON as a student and I wanted to fully experience what the dancers do,” Yankoski (senior-information sciences and technology) said.
Junior Kyriakos Sotos said he wasn’t as dedicated as Yankoski, but he still plans on being awake for “most of the weekend.”
Other students plan on napping at some point during the marathon, though they don’t estimate they’ll get much sleep over the weekend.
Senior Max Mellot and freshman Sara Clery both said they don’t plan on getting more than eight total hours of sleep over the week.
“I just got here and I’ll probably be up for the next 16 hours,” said freshman Ben Lehman.
Lehman also said he expects to get only eight hours of sleep over the weekend.
