Greek Hour features singing, dancing
Early Saturday morning, Greek Hour was introduced with a video of various greek leaders that are involved in Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and a slide show of pictures the fraternities and sororities.
IFC Executive Vice President Lorenzo Massaro and co-creator of Greek Hour video Jean Gray introduced the three top Greek Sing groups, which performed their “mini musicals” including “The Newsies”, “Rock of Ages” and “The Lion King.”
A video of cancer survivor and Four Diamonds Fund child Melissa Rae of Sigma Kappa was presented. Rae told her story of her cancer treatment and her experience with THON as a child.
The greek councils presented the 2013 Greek Week theme “We the Greeks” to end the hour.
Alpha Omicron Pi dancer, Emily Schwartz has been involved in THON and her sorority for the past four years. She decided to dance this year because of she was inspired by the kids, Schwartz (senior-supply chain management) said.
“[Greek Hour is] a way for the rest of Penn State and the other organizations to see how much greek life cares about THON,” Gray (senior- advertising and art), of Gamma Phi Beta, said.
