Dancers take first slides of strength

Since dancers aren’t allowed to shower, they will get opportunities to slide down a wrestling mat covered in baby powder for Slides of Strength.

“Baby powder makes it feel so much better. I plan on doing it again later.” Amy Zdipko, a dancer, said.

While sliding down the mat, the OPP committee members massage the dancers’ legs for 10 seconds.

“It was incredible. I can tell it was really rewarding for [the dancers] and it was really fun for us,” Amanda Mae Rees, an OPP committee member, said.

Dancers have four more opportunities throughout the night to do Slides of Strength. The next three will last 30 minutes and the last one, Giant Slides of Strength, will last an hour.

“We encourage all dancers to do it as many times as they can,” Marissa Romano, OPPerations captain said. “It’s the only time dancers are off their feet the entire weekend.”
