Dancers prep for 46 hours on their feet

While the stands roar with screams and support for this year's Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, the dancers stayed seated in silence on the floor below, all of whom were preparing for the moment when they will stand, and will not sit down until Sunday.

"It's game time," Pillar organization member Jack Dwyer said.

Dwyer (senior-civil engineering) sat with two other dancers from Pillar, Tim Heckman and Eddy Barringer.

"This hour needs to go by faster," Barringer (junior-economics) said around 5:00 p.m.

In their matching Dr. Seuss hats, they prepared for the weekend to begin. To keep each other motivated, Barringer said they will feed off each other and their organization for support.

"We're surrounded by people we like, so it'll be easy," Barringer said.

Another dancer from the Ohana organization, Alex Schoener, said he will feed off of the people here, including his THON family and his organization. He said he will use their support to constantly keep him motivated throughout the weekend.

For Schoener (senior-supply chain management), he said he is "overwhelmed" with excitement.

"It's hard to put into words what it's like on the floor," Schoener said. "It's such a different environment than the stands."
