Altoona committee waits in line with mascot 'RepTHON'

At this year's Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, a familiar face will be representing the Altoona Commonwealth Campus.

RepTHON -- an inflatable red dinosaur known as Altoona's mascot -- is present with committee members and captains as they wait to enter the Bryce Jordan Center for THON weekend. Members of the Altoona THON committee drove up this morning around 9 a.m., while their dancers arrived last night, Liz Ducker (sophomore-communications) said.

But RepTHON is not a new face to THON weekend, Ducker said. She said that RepTHON was introduced at THON last year and was present at the Family Carnival this year.

Ducker said people at Altoona associate RepTHON with THON events occurring on campus. She also said kids who attend THON recognize the inflatable dinosaur at events like the Family Carnival.

"Kids love him," Ducker said. "We brought him up for the Family Carnival, and the kids love playing with him."
