Election fever hits Cafe 210 West
Election fever has made its way to one of State College’s favorite establishments. Items such as the "pastromney" sandwich and "barackley" and cheese soup can be found on today’s specials board at Cafe 210 West.
“We’re just trying to lighten the mood a little,” said owner J.R. Mangan.
Along with the specialty menu items, sandwiches are adorned with hand-made American Flag-like toothpicks. The “Official Sandwich Ballot”, where customers mark whether they voted Democrat or Republican, is hanging from the podium just inside the door as well.
The election themed fair was the brainchild of a few staff members, and seems to be a hit with customers.
“Because this is such a big deal, we thought it would be funny to do something, and they seem to be getting a kick out of it,” Magnan said.
The election hasn’t hurt the lunch rush either.
“We were pretty busy today,” Magnan said. “Customers have been talking more about our food than the election, so that’s not bad.”
