Lucas named co-Big Ten Player of the Week

Maggie Lucas (33) shoots a three-point shot Sunday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Lady Lions came out on top with a score of 97 to 74 against Georgetown.

After her career-high scoring performance Sunday against Georgetown, junior guard Maggie Lucas picked up another Big Ten Player of the Week award, her second of the season.

The award comes a day after Lucas scored 39 points, going 11-for-21 from the field and 7-for-13 beyond the arc against Georgetown.

In two contests against Georgetown and Connecticut, the Narbeth, Pa. native averaged 27 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 3.5 steals. That merited a share of this week's award with Minnesota's Rachel Banham.

Lucas is the first Lady Lion to win the award twice in one season since Amanda Brown in 2006-07.

She will try to continue her efforts when Penn State takes on Virginia Tech Wednesday night in Blacksburg, V.a.
