Alex Bentley wins WBCA All-American honorable mention
The Lady Lions brought home their second All-American recognition this season when junior guard Alex Bentley was selected to the WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America honorable mention team on Saturday.
Bentley had a great year manning the point for the Lady Lions (26-7, 13-3 Big Ten), who made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 14.1 points per game (11th in the Big Ten), 4.7 assists per game (4th), and 3.0 steals per game (2nd).
A two-time member of the All-Big Ten first team and member of the Big Ten All-Defensive team, Bentley is the first Lady Lion to earn WBCA All-America honors since Kelly Mazzante was named to the first team in 2004.
The other Lady Lion to earn All-American honors was sophomore guard Maggie Lucas, who was named to the honorable mention team of the Associated Press last week.
