Penn State's Kelsey Amy named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

The Penn State field hockey team might only have three wins for the season, but they’ve now got two players with Big Ten awards.

The Big Ten conference announced today, Kelsey Amy as the co-offensive Big Ten Player of the Week.

Amy scored two goals against Princeton Thursday and four against Quinnipiac Sunday.

This is her third offensive player award in the Big Ten.

The last time she received this was in November of 2010 when she scored four goals against Northwestern.

Between her ability to take advantage of corners, where she scored three of her goals at Sunday’s game and her speed, Amy is a dangerous scoring threat.

Amy leads the team in goals this season.

The team also found out today, they have dropped one spot in the most recent NCAA rankings. They used to sit in the No. 6, but have since dropped to No. 7 with a 3-3 record.

What team now sits in the No. 6 spot? Duke, whom the Lions will face in its next game on Saturday.
