Penn State downs Iowa
The No. 5 Nittany Lions swept Iowa 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-14) on Saturday night in Iowa City.
Sophomore Ariel Scott led Penn State (8-4, 1-1) in kills for the third straight match with 18, and outside hitter Deja McClendon also recorded double-digit kills with 10.
Darcy Dorton played in only one set, but the redshirt sophomore made an impact in the Lions' first conference win of the season. She had a season-high with five kills, all in the third set, and had a .286 hitting percentage.
After two close sets, Penn State ran away from Iowa (10-5, 0-2) in the third set.
The Lions hit .282 in the set and used an 8-0 run to bury the Hawkeyes.
Sophomore Ali Longo started as the libero for Penn State and ended the match with 17 digs, while freshman setter Micha Hancock had 37 assists.
