Ice Hockey: Men's
Opponent for first Icers game changed
Washington & Jefferson will no longer travel to Penn State for the Icers first matchup of the season on Oct. 7.
The Icers will face off at the Ice Pavilion against Lebanon Valley, located in Annville, Pa., to begin their 41st and last season as a Division I club team. Coach Guy Gadowsky has never coached against either of the teams, and said he isn't sure why the schedule change was made.
"I don't know either of those programs at all so it doesn't make any difference to me," Gadowsky said.
Gadowsky added he is the least educated person in the league after spending the past seven years coaching Princeton.
"I've never seen a club game in my life," Gadowsky said.
Last week the Icers finished up their first week of practice with the 30 players who made the 2011-12 roster.
Gadowsky knows it's difficult for players to adjust to a new coach because of different expectations and habits.
"I think they're very willing and hungry to learn our systems and what we're trying to implement," Gadowsky said. "I've been actually very happy with the attention that they've given to that."
