Nittany Lions dominate Rutgers

The Penn State women's volleyball team cruised to a three set sweep (25-12, 25-17, 25-14) of Rutgers Saturday morning.

The Nittany Lions improved their record to 6-3 with a relatively error-free offensive performance, with only nine hitting errors.

The team was near-perfect in the first set with no hitting errors and hit well all match long. Sophomore Katie Slay was dominant on the offensive end, tallying 10 kills on 13 attacks with no errors for a hitting percentage of .769.

The team's defense also played well, led by sophomore libero Ali Longo. Longo is seeing time at libero after the first set of Friday night's match when she replaced junior Kristin Carpenter.

Redshirt sophomore Darcy Dorton got into the match for some of her first points of the season, hitting .333 on six attacks.

Redshirt freshman Erica Denney also saw her first time of the season, getting one kill.
