Lions defeat St. Peter 3-0

The No. 19 Nittany Lions (4-1-0) defeated the St. Peter Peacocks 3-0 Friday night.
Both teams went into the half tied 0-0 and play was suspended for an hour due
to lightning. Coming out of the prolonged half, the Lions were fierce and were
aggressive in attacking the Peacocks defense. Two minutes into the pouring second
half, Hasani Sinclair headed a ball into the back of the Peacocks net and the Lions
were up 1-0. Thirteen minutes later, the Lions scored again, but this time it was
Jordan Tyler, the teams leading goal scoring returner from a season ago. Tyler would
eventually score again fifteen minutes later putting the Lions up 3-0 and ensuring
their fourth victory of the season. Andrew Wolverton posted another shutout,
thanks to the fearless play from Matt Smallwood, who made a team save on a ball
that had gotten past Wolverton. The Lions are now 3-0-0 at home and have yet to
allow a goal at Jeffrey Field. The team’s next game will be against rival St. Francis
(PA) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
