Hayes continues to pick up awards

Women's soccer forward Maya Hayes continued to pick up recognition after another high-scoring weekend.

The sophomore scored five goals in Penn State's two games this weekend, a 3-1 win over NC State and a 3-0 win over Pitt, where she scored her first career hat trick, the 20th in program history.

As recognition, Hayes was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the second week in a row she's earned that distinction. The forward split this week's award with Nebraska's Morgan Marlborough, who also found the net five times this weekend.

Additionally, Hayes was named the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week and was a member of the Team of the Week. It is the second week in a row a Penn State player has made the Team of the Week as senior midfielder Jess Rosenbluth was on last week's best XI.
