Penn State hoop fans will have good basketball to look forward to at the BJC before second semester this season.
The non-conference schedule was released on Monday, and although there are a handful of cupcakes, it is light-years ahead of this past season's.
Football fans will be able to take a break from camping outside Beaver Stadium the night before the Ohio State game and trek across the street for the BJC's first game, an exhibition between the Nits and Slippery Rock on Nov. 6.
The real season tips off with a home date against Penn the following Friday. PSU then hosts Robert Morris three days later on the the 16th. The Colonials made the NCAA tournament last season after winning the Northeast Conference tournament.
Another 2009 NCAA tournament school, American, visits the BJC to close out the non-conference season on Dec. 21.
Other highlights of the first semester include a trip to Virginia for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and Virginia Tech, another ACC school, visiting the BJC on Dec. 12.
The Hokies lost to PSU at the BJC in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 2007.
The Lions will also travel to Temple on Dec. 5. The Owls were another 2009 tourney school and their victory at the BJC last season was partly responsible for PSU not hearing its name called on Selection Sunday.
The Charleston Classic will take place Nov. 19-22, and PSU will play three teams from the pool of Miami, South Carolina, South Florida, Davidson, Tulane, LaSalle and UNC Wilmington.
The full non-conference schedule is as follows:
