Report: Bill O'Brien interviews with Cleveland Browns
Penn State coach Bill O'Brien interviewed for the head coaching vacancy with the Cleveland Browns this week, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The Cleveland newspaper is also reporting that the Browns interviewed Syracuse coach Doug Marrone on Thursday, and they plan to interview Oregon coach Chip Kelly on Friday.
Rumors have been circulating about O'Brien's status as the head coach of Penn State for the last several days. O'Brien has not commented on a potential NFL coaching position. His agent, Joe Linta, told WTAJ in State College on Tuesday that O'Brien was "coming back from vacation and we are going to meet in the next day or so to discuss."
The Philadelphia Eagles are also reported to have interest in O'Brien.
On Nov. 27, O'Brien told the radio station, 790 AM "The Zone", in Atlanta: "I plan on being the head football coach at Penn State. That's my plan and that's what I intend to do."
After Penn State beat Indiana on Nov. 17, O'Brien would not confirm he was staying at Penn State despite persistent questioning.
The former New England Patriots offensive coordinator coached Penn State to an 8-4 record in 2012.
