Penn State recruiting: Lions reportedly pick up three commitments
Penn State reportedly picked up three commitments on Sunday.
Recruits Zayd Issah, Jonathan Walton and Anthony Smith all verbally committed to Bill O'Brien and the Penn State program according to Blue-White Illustrated. The three commitments bring the total of commits in the Nittany Lions' 2013 class to 16.
Issah is a three-star linebacker prospect and had originally verbaled to Penn State in late June, but reopened his recruitment later in the summer. The 6-foot-3, 205 pounds Issah is listed with the general term "athlete" on his recruiting page, but he has said Penn State will use him as a linebacker.
The Harrisburg product picked Penn State over Maryland, Iowa and Arizona State, among other schools.
Walton is a two-star linebacker from Daphne, Ala. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 228 pounds and also had offers from Minnesota and Louisiana Tech.
Smith isn't a linebacker, but he is a defender. The Wayne native is a 6-foot-1 defensive back and does not have a Rivals rating.
This weekend was the official visit weekend at Penn State for many recruits and a number of commits and other players were in attendance at the men's basketball game on Saturday.
