Penn State honors Michael Mauti on helmets
Michael Mauti won't be able to take the field Saturday, but his number will be on the gridiron.
Penn State's helmets will all feature the number 42 on the side, as the team will pay homage to the senior linebacker who hurt his left knee against Indiana last week. Mauti, whose jersey number 42, made 95 tackles, three interceptions and four sacks this season, which was cut short when he went down in the first quarter last week.
Mauti was the one of the most vocal leaders of the team. He and teammate Michael Zordich stood in front of a group of players and reaffirmed their commitment to Penn State just two days after the NCAA hit the school with sanctions in July.
In other tribute news, it appears "2012" will be unveiled on the east wall of Beaver Stadium to commemorate this year's team. It will be next to a list of 15 other years in which the Nittany Lions won championships.
Senior Day ceremonies are set to begin at 3 p.m., kickoff is at 3:30.
