Michael Mauti leaves game with injury

Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti (42) is helped off the field after being injured during the first quarter of an NCAA college football game against Indiana in State College, Pa., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.

Michael Mauti was carted off the field due to an apparent knee injury midway through the first quarter against Indiana.

He suffered the injury while being blocked on a run play and was down on the field for several minutes before being taken to the locker room.

The fifth-year senior linebacker suffered a season-ending ACL injury to his left knee in week four last season and trainers seemed to be examining the same knee.

Reacting to the loss of one of the team's main leaders, the rest of the team came together on the field and coach Bill O'Brien was seen addressing his teammates. Fellow senior Michael Zordich ran to embrace Mauti and was the only player to do so on the linebacker's way off the field.

Mauti leads the team with 93 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles this season. Michael Hull came in to replace the linebacker and would likely be the player to fill in for Mauti if he is unable to return for the last game of the season next week against Wisconsin.
