Penn State vs. Temple - Post-game injury update
Running backs Derek Day and Bill Belton were both dressed today, but neither participated in the game. Regarding Belton, coach Bill O’Brien said that was a “pretty significant ankle sprain.” O’Brien added: “I feel terrible for the kid because he loves to play football and he hasn’t been able to get out there full tilt.” A tweet from Belton also indicated he might return next week.
Day separated his left shoulder against Virginia.
O’Brien said defensive end Sean Stanley will be back next week after suffering a back injury.
Defensive end Pete Massaro continued to sit as he deals with persistent knee and shoulder problems.
O’Brien said running back Curtis Dukes didn’t get any carries today because he's recovering from “a thigh deal coming out of the Navy game.” O’Brien said he considered using Dukes on offense until after the game started. Dukes did play on special teams Saturday.
The official diagnosis on fullback Michael Zordich from Penn State Assistant Athletic Director of Communications Jeff Nelson is a bruised left knee. The prognosis is uncertain, but O’Brien said “he'll probably spit on it and be all right.”
Cornerback Adrian Amos banged up his head on a tackle in the second half. His status is also uncertain.
