Bill O'Brien Press Conference Wrap - Week 4

- O'Brien said that Temple coach Steve Addazio has added his own twist to the Temple offense. "It's going be a big challenge for our defense on Saturday," O'Brien said.

- O'Brien said safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong played his best game against Navy. Also raved about defensive DaQuan Jones work ethic in the classroom, adding that academics have been challenging for him.

- O'Brien said that the coaching staff needs to improve on play-calling, i.e. calling better plays and getting the plays in quicker.

- O'Brien said he has a lot of experience dealing with the tailback position and the injuries that come with it. He said it's a very physical position, but he's fortunate that Penn State has some versatility at the position. "Like we've said from day one, it's the next man up, and the next guy has to step up when someone goes down," O'Brien said.

- O'Brien said he met Steve Addazio when he was at Syracuse and O'Brien was a young coach. "I wouldn't say that we've known each other for 30 years," O'Brien said. "But we know each other and we have a lot of respect for each other."

- O'Brien said he's not really concerned about how Allen Robinson has caught the majority of the passes and Penn State hasn't really spread the ball around.

- True freshman linebacker Nyeem Wartman isn't going to be back for a while, O'Brien said.

- O'Brien said that even though the kicking and punting haven't been great, he's happy with the rest of his special teams from guys like Mauti, Zordich, Hull, Yancich, etc.

- Both Day and Belton, "no pun intended, are day-to-day," O'Brien said. He said

- O'Brien said he probably should have gotten Paul Jones in the game a little more than he did last week. Wants to use him more at tight end. "He's a 260 pound guy who can run, he's smart and he's tough," O'Brien said.

- "I probably work closer with the quarterbacks than any other position on the team," O'Brien said. Added he meets with the quarterbacks everyday, "except their mandatory day off, which is Sunday."

- "It's probably more me, having to call more runs. That's probably something we can improve on, more from my standpoint than the players," O'Brien said about running backs not scoring any touchdowns for Penn State yet this season.

- O'Brien said he's especially looking for defensive back walk-ons this season.

- "Mauti is a guy I'll keep in touch with the rest of my life," O'Brien said. "Watching him play, you wish you could have played that way."

- The defense has played a bunch of snaps this season, O'Brien said. He's not concerned about defense's long-term stamina.

- "Right now, the team is the same as they've been since I took the job," O'Brien said. "They understand that it's just one win."

- "I really have a strong relationship with these guys, and so does my staff," O'Brien said. "We talk all the time with these guys, and it's not always rose-covered conversations. They're honest conversations."

- O'Brien said, going into the fourth game, the plan is to try and redshirt the true freshmen who haven't played. But they are ready to step in at a moment's notice if an injury comes up.

- "They've designated themselves the Supa Six. I don't know about that," O'Brien said regarding the second year players of Bill Belton, Allen Robinson, Donovan Smith, Deion Barnes, Adrian Amos, and Kyle Carter.

- O'Brien knocked on the wooden table, then his head, when asked about turnovers.

- O'Brien said he doesn't care about winning streaks, specifically Penn State's winning streak against Temple. "I don't know what they were like in 1940, but in 2012 they are a very good football team."

- "We only have 12 games this year, so every game for us is a very, very vital football game," O'Brien said. "On November whatever, the season is over."
