ESPN: Brown to transfer to Oklahoma
Penn State's offense suffered another big loss Saturday.
Wide receiver Justin Brown is transferring to Oklahoma, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. Brown was Penn State's leading returning receiver and is the first senior to leave the team after the NCAA issued harsh sanctions against Penn State last week.
In 2011, Brown caught 35 passes for 517 yards and two touchdowns and his departure now makes it nine players to transfer to other schools from Penn State in the past week.
The loss of Brown comes four days after Silias Redd — the Nittany Lions' top rusher from a season ago — officially transferred to Southern California. Oklahoma is ranked fourth in the recently released USA today coaches poll, USC is one spot ahead of them at No. 3.
This also isn't the first time Penn State lost a wide receiver in the offseason. Devon Smith, who scored two touchdowns and caught 25 balls for 402 yards last season, was dismissed from the Penn State team in June for what the team called personal reasons.
With Brown and Smith out of the picture, Penn State's leading returning receiver is Shawney Kersey, who caught five passes for 108 yards last season.
