Lions Roar: QB Matt McGloin

-On knowing he's the starter early in the week: "You get a lot more reps and work with the wide receivers."

-On deciding on Penn State: "I figured I wanted to play on the big  stage."

-On his interview with Kirk Herbstreit Tuesday: "It went real well. Herbstreit is a great guy, and we had a lot of fun with the interview yesterday."

-On the OSU defense: "We're definitely going to be able to move the ball. If we get down there, we're going to have to keep that up (red zone). It's not that we're not going to move the ball."

-Terrelle Pryor's recruitment process: "I was following what he was doing. A couple guys didn't get offers because of him... I wanted to play at Penn State. I wanted to play on the big stage."

-Pryor's recruitment affected many Pennsylvania quarterback recruits.

-On earlier in the season and turnaround in enthusiasm: "I just don't think that guys were coming together." He thought the Michigan game was when things turned around.

-How to beat Ohio State: "We have to play similar to how we played Michigan. We have to make sure our offense stays on the field." He said the focus is to keep Ohio State's offense off the field.

-Chemistry with Derek Moye: "It just doesn't develop overnight. This spring and the summer, we worked real hard on the deep ball and communication... Situations like [against Northwestern], it really shows how hard you worked in the spring and summer."

-"You got to be vocal in the huddle. You have to be confident... We've been playing really well because of it."

-OSU game making things different: "Not really. It's just another football game. I'm not going to approach it any different. The field is still 100 yards no matter how you look at it." He said the team needs to take the crowd out of the game.

-On working his way to starter over the years: "Yeah, it was frustrating obviously. I always had in mind, one day I'd be in this situation. [Daryll] Clark has taught me a lot. He's a great friend."

-Do you like talking about your path to starter: "Not anymore. Everybody knows my story, but I guess people see it as a good story."

-On being big underdogs: "It's upsetting with a school like Penn State. It's ridiculous to me." He said Penn State has to play its game and see what happens.

-He said he wasn't expecting to go into the Northwestern game but became fortunate when Bolden struggled. Wide receivers coach Mike McQueary told him to be ready, but McGloin doesn't know where the decision originally came from.

-"It doesn't really come as a shock to me I'm in this situation."

-"I knew my time would come whether it be this year, next year or the following year. When you're called upon, you have to be a performer. You have to get the job done."

-To other walk-ons looking to start at quarterback: "I guess I'm living proof that it can happen. Do what you want to do. If you want to play Division I football, go do it."

-On other quarterbacks: "There's no bitterness anywhere between any of us. We're not going to have kids on the sideline hoping someone performs poor."

-On he and Pryor being polar opposites on the recruitment stage and now going up against each other: "I haven't really thought too much about that. I don't really want to single myself out. I don't want to single him out."

-"Everybody knows my story. Hopefully I can just continue to add to it."

-"I'm just continuing to progress as a quarterback. It's something I'm working on day in and day out. I'm working more as a leader." He said the team needs good chemistry and needs to know it's the quarterback's huddle.

-"You can always get better at everything."

-On Pryor again: "I'm really not focusing on him. I'm focusing on the Ohio State defense. I don't really feel the need to get into anything like that."

-On why he commented about Herbstreit after Michigan: "Kirk Herbstreit is a great guy... Why not go out there and fire a shot back. I figured I'd have a little fun with it."

-On receivers in practice: "Coach McQueary does a great job getting all the wideouts reps."

-On teammates with him in the game: "They just feel like there's confidence in there. I just bring a little something different to the table, and guys like that."

-McGloin said he still gets the same support from Scranton because the community was so close knit.

-"They're a good football team all around. The [Ohio State] d-line has been so good. With the way the o-line is playing, it's going to be a fight in the trenches."
