The adventure that is journalism

Big Ten Football Media Days are just hours away and I just got done waiting in line for two and a half hours at the Philadelphia International Airport.

It kind of reminded me of when the Super Dooper Looper debuted at Hershey Park. Lines, lines and more lines.

My connecting flight from Philly to Chicago was delayed, delayed again and then, when we were finally on the tarmac, engines roaring, the pilot came over the radio:

"Folks, this is your Captain speaking. We regret to inform you that this flight has been canceled due to thunderstorms in our flight corridor."

Huh? Canceled?

Yup. So what that means is, I'll be here in Philly International until I can hop the next flight to the Windy City. That's at 10:30 tonight. Bummer, but it's better than the 7:35 a.m. flight tomorrow, which was the other option.

I tried all day not to eat just so the first thing I ate would be a yummy piece of Chicago-style pizza. But seven hours in an airport takes a toll on your body and mind. I slipped and munched out on some Sbarro. Mmmmm. Just like in the HUB.

I'll be in touch.

The Roster

Travis Johnson Mug

Travis Johnson is a senior majoring in journalism and political science and a football reporter for the Collegian. He's previously covered the wrestling, baseball and women's golf teams. Travis loves to drive fast with the windows down and the rock 'n' roll blaring — even in the winter.

Josh Langenbacher Mug

Josh Langenbacher has written for the Collegian since his junior year and covered the women's track and field team. He's hoping he doesn't have to rescue any colleagues from telephone booths in the HUB — or anywhere else, for that matter.

Andrew Wible Mug

Andrew Wible is a junior majoring in journalism and a football reporter for the Daily Collegian. He has also covered the men's and women's basketball teams. A confused soul, he listens to rap, plays golf and hunts. And like any true Pennsylvanian, he treats the Monday after Thanksgiving as a national holiday.
