A year’s work of student filmmaking culminated before an enthusiastic sold-out audience Saturday night at the State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave.
Silver and gold coins attached to brightly colored outfits jingled as members of the Belly Dance Club shimmied their hips to the beat of an Egyptian pop song.
With finals approaching, attending tonight’s performance by the Penn State Concert Band can be a good way to relax, conductor Gregory Drane said.
Sayvinyl’s drummer Ryan Flach once called State College home, as did two of his bandmates.

The animals derailed near the Nittany Mall and walked to the Bryce Jordan Center last night. The circus will have seven performances at the BJC this weekend: Tomorrow and Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 for opening night, and $13, $24, $29 or $72 for all other performances. The family show will feature the character Bello and his daredevil skits, in addition to classic acts.

When Steve Broadnax, director of the School of Theatre's Word Up! said in an interview with the Collegian last week the show would include the "political, social, economical and religious" aspects of hip-hop, I didn't know what to expect from the production.
While most events at the State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave., feature music in a live format, today's lecture at the downtown venue will discuss how to make sounds come alive in the studio.
