[ From Friday, March 16, 2001 ] After the first day of wrestling at the NCAA wrestling championships at Iowa City, Iowa yesterday, all six of the Penn State wrestling team's qualified wrestlers were eliminated from championship competition. [ From Thursday, March 15, 2001 ]
[ From Monday, March 12, 2001 ] Once the seedings for the Big Ten Championships were released, it was clear that the Penn State wrestling team would have to do something shocking to keep it from being the school's worst ever performance. At the Big Ten wrestling championships, Minnesota proved once again that there are chinks in the armor of wrestling's most prolific juggernaut. [ From Friday, March 2, 2001 ] The most renowned wrestling conference in the nation, with five teams ranked in the top 10 and 10 of 11 in the top 25, will be displayed in all of its glory this weekend. With no seniors and four freshmen expected to start at the Big Ten Tournament, March 3-4 in Evanston, Ill., the youth and inexperience of the Penn State wrestling team is glaring. At no portion of the lineup is that more blatantly obvious than at the lighter weights, where the Nittany Lions will start three redshirt freshmen.
