Home sweet home
With just under six minutes remaining in the second quarter Saturday, Penn State gave a glimpse of the national championship team it is predicted to feature in years to come.

Trainspotting
True freshman Eric McCoo made a pitch for more playing time Saturday at Beaver Stadium, running all over Purdue's defense for 163 yards on 18 carries in Penn State's 31-13 rout. His performance paced a 216-yard rushing effort that helped the No. 10 Nittany Lions (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) control the pace of the game and prevented the Boilermakers' offense from spending too much time on the field.

Lion offense on right track
In the days leading up to Saturday's game, Penn State players were inundated with questions about both their offensive struggles and Purdue's ability to light up the scoreboard.

Pressure chamber
The No. 10 Lions (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) relied on a solid pass rush to collapse the pocket on Boilermaker quarterback Drew Brees, who set an NCAA record with 83 pass attempts Oct. 10 against Wisconsin.

Penalties, calls hinder Boilermakers' attack
The best explanation Purdue coach Joe Tiller could offer was, "it was one of those kind of nights."

Oct. 17: Defensive pressure cooks Boilermakers
Behind swarming defensive pressure and a dominant ground game, No. 12 Penn State overcame a spirited effort by Purdue to take a 31-13 Homecoming victory today at Beaver Stadium.
