Although Penn State is located hours away from the site of the Virginia Tech tragedy, students in Happy Valley are planning several ways to honor the victims during tomorrow's Blue-White football game.

Some members of the local Asian community say they are bracing for any possible racist retaliation for Monday's Virginia Tech shootings in which the gunman, a South Korea native, killed 32 people, then himself.

The State College Area School District canceled school and all school-sponsored activities today after a threatening note was found at about 3:15 p.m. yesterday in a bathroom located on the second floor of the high school's South Building.

Thirty-two bell chimes resounded in the worship hall of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center at noon yesterday, each one honoring a victim of the Virginia Tech massacre.

HARRISBURG -- In the wake of Monday's massacre at Virginia Tech., State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Bellefonte, proposed a school safety resolution to the Pennsylvania House yesterday.

Students and faculty at Penn State will come together today for a memorial service to commemorate the 32 victims of Monday's Virginia Tech shooting.

The parents of Jeremy Herbstritt, the Penn State graduate killed in Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech, sat down with CNN's Wolf Blitzer last night to tell the nation of their son's vibrancy and pluck.

In light of Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech, some Penn State students are organizing a large-scale demonstration of support in the Beaver Stadium stands Saturday -- and Penn State is footing the bill.

Penn State graduate Jeremy Herbstritt, 27, of Bellefonte, is among the 33 killed in Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech, Penn State officials confirmed yesterday.

A day after a shooting at Virginia Tech left 33 dead, State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Bellefonte, said he'll unveil a resolution today requesting universities statewide to have an effective system in place to alert students of potential threats -- and he wants to use Penn State as a model.

An hour after Virginia Tech students gathered at the drill field for a candlelight vigil, 10 Penn State students met last night at the gazebo on the HUB lawn with candles and prayers in remembrance of the tragedy that occurred.

HARRISBURG — This morning, State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Bellefonte, introduced a school safety resolution to House members in the wake of Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech.

It's weeks like these that I truly believe the validity of the phrase "ignorance is bliss."

The building he entered was being evacuated in the wake of the most deadly shooting spree in U.S. history, but Virginia Tech freshman Gregg Tabot was taking the elevator up to the third floor.

Penn State officials met in the hours after the Virginia Tech University shootings to review their emergency plans, management coordinator Stephen Abrams said yesterday.

Penn State officials have verified that Penn State graduate Jeremy Herbstritt, of Bellefonte, was among the students killed yesterday in the Virginia Tech shootings.

The Daily Collegian received this prayer statement from a Christian Religious Leader at Virginia Tech regarding yesterday's campus shooting.

"We're out in the cornfields, and this just doesn't happen. Teachers who have been here for 20, 30 years said this has never happened."

Leah Braun, one of the many students that gathered in front of the TV in Waring commons to watch news coverage of the shootings at Virginia Tech, said one of her best friends attends the college.

The Daily Collegian received these e-mails from a Virginia Tech Student. They are the same e-mails that were sent to students this morning, notifying them of a gunman on Virginia Tech's campus.
