From Monday, April 2, 2001 If timing is everything, State College's Committee on Riot Prevention deserves some credit. The committee issued a list of 44 recommendations earlier this year, only a few weeks before the recent post-basketball-game melee downtown. Students and borough can stop riots together From Thursday, March 29, 2001 Twelve of the 20 people arrested during Saturday's early morning disturbance on Beaver Avenue were bound over on all charges during their preliminary hearings yesterday. Members of the State College Borough Council asked students this week to tell them what can be done to curb disturbances such as the one Friday night on Beaver Avenue. One student group is working to do just that. From Wednesday, March 28, 2001 The 20 people arrested early Saturday morning are scheduled to have their preliminary hearings today, as police continue to search for additional suspects via footage of the disturbance in "Beaver Canyon." In light of recent events at Penn State such as Sex Faire and last weekend's riots, President Graham Spanier addressed the University Faculty Senate concerning issues of violence and freedom of speech during yesterday's meeting.
