James' adventures in PIERCING
[ Updated Friday, April 30, 1999 ]

Every week this semester, James Conroy pierced a part of his body recorded the experience. His e-mail address is jpc167@psu.edu.

The clitoral hood
When I wrote about piercing my penis, I said I wanted to inform you about the female genitalia piercing. But frankly, I didn't have the right equipment. Luckily, though, I found someone willing to help me out by getting her nether regions pierced.

Previous ADVENTURES...

The recap
April 23: That being the case, I figure I might as well give everyone a recap of my adventures. So for all of you who want to know what happened to all those piercings.

The light saber
April 16: I have said this piercing column wouldn't go "down south." But after countless e-mails requesting some kind of penis piercing, I finally broke down. What can I say? I'm a slave to journalism.

The orbit
April 9: The orbit is more of a kind of piercing than a place to get pierced. An orbit is any piercing that enters the body more than once.

The navel
April 2: The navel piercing is another good way to get into the body-piercing world. It's not really visible and as far as body piercings go, it's relatively inexpensive.

The Mehndi (Henna)
March 26: Although the process of Mehndi originated in Eastern countries, it has gained popularity in the West and has even been seen on stars like Madonna and Gwen Stefani . . . and now me.

The nostril
March 19: If you're going to get your nostril pierced, you should first decide whether you want a hoop or a stud. There is no difference between the two other than the look, but I chose the hoop.

The celebrity
March 3: When I started the semester, I was just another faceless writer. I never dreamed one day I would be baring my chest in The Daily Collegian.

The nipple
Feb. 26: If you're thinking of getting your nipple pierced -- stop. Think about it again and if you still want it done, at least I warned you.

The tragus
Feb. 2: The tragus has become one of the more popular ear piercings. For those who don't know what the tragus is, Webster's defines it as "the prominence in front of the external opening of the ear."

The labret
Feb. 12: The labret is the area between your bottom lip and chin. It's really just a waste of space when you think about it. You might as well adorn it.

The eyebrow
Feb. 5: It seems like the eyebrow is a good steppingstone for anyone who wants to enter the world of piercing. The eyebrow is at the top of everyone's list.

The tongue
Jan. 29: Apparently, the tongue piercing is one of the most popular types of piercing today. Men and women are lining up to get pieces of metal jammed into their tongues.
