Hot Chelle Rae to perform at the BJC on Blue and White Weekend

This spring will be packed with concerts with Hot Chelle Rae becoming the newest addition to the end-of-semester shows.

The Nashville-based band will be performing at 7 p.m. on April 21 at the Bryce Jordan Center, just one day before the Kendrick Lamar show.

The concert is being presented by radio station B94.5 and is sponsored by the University Park Allocation Committee.

Bernie Punt, marketing and sales director for the BJC, said that he is excited for the band and that the venue picked Hot Chelle Rae up when it became available.

Punt said he has had good experiences with this type of genre in the past with bands such as 98 Degrees, The Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and The Jonas Brothers.

“We’re continuing that type of genre,” he said. “Females [ages] 14 to 20 years old are going to be very excited about this.”

PJ Mullen, program director of B94.5, said that when the station got the opportunity to sponsor the show, it jumped at the chance.

He said that the weekend is full of a lot of events such as Blue-White weekend, multiple sporting events and the Special Olympics.

“It’s a jam-packed Blue-White weekend. [The Hot Chelle Rae concert will] just kind of wrap up [the] weekend for the students and community,” Mullen said.

Mullen said that the band is great to have right at the end of the semester.

“It’s the perfect group for the spring,” he said. “They’re just a feel-good band.”

The band, made up of members Ryan Follesé, Nash Overstreet, Ian Keaggy and Jamie Follesé, is known for popular hits such as “Tonight, Tonight” and “Honestly.”

Tickets are free while supplies last to Penn State students with a valid photo ID+ card and will be available starting at noon on March 26 in the HUB-Robeson Center.

Students will be able to obtain up to two tickets each. General admission tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 27 and are $35.
